Full Description

2001: One of three areas (IPS 404-406) identified during evaluation in 2000 (see IPS 399) for open area excavation due to system of ditches of probable Medieval date associated with Clapgate Lane. Excavation revealed a pair of ditches and 3 pits of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date; a Roman ditch; a possibly Early Saxon ditch; 3 possibly undated (Medieval?) ditches; various undated and Post Medieval features and 12 FIDO (fog dispersal) features of second world war date (see IPS 427 & IPS 613).
