Full Description

Evaluation identified a ditch which contained pottery of 11th to 12th century, as well as a small number of residual Roman pottery sherds. (S1).
A small area monitored strip and excavation was carried out prior to/during the construction of two areas of new hard play surface to the south of the school building. A number of ditches and pits were found in the smaller play area, with dates ranging from the Roman to medieval periods, while a single feature of indeterminate size and function (believed to be a wide ditch) was noted during monitoring of the larger, southern, play area, also believed to be of early medieval date (S2).
