Full Description

Red brick 'gentry' house c. 1819 with white brick façade, now physically connected to the earlier, Rosehill Cottage (1784). The outbuildings to the East consist of a small red brick domestic stable and red brick Coach house, which adjoins the street.

The stable contains a hay loft and its own external loading door. It is a good example of an increasingly rare building type, retaining a good brick floor, narrow tack room and separate storage room, which probably operated as a chaff box. It was likely built with the house in 1819, but an earlier date cannot be ruled out.

The coach house bears a chequerboard pattern in burnt headers, matching that of the house gable of 1784 (Rosehill cottage.) and the two are almost certainly contemporary. The roof was re-built in the 20th C.
