Full Description

Possible site of the Battle of Ringmere AD 1010, between Vikings and Ulfcytel at "a place called Ringmere, where they knew that Ulfcytel the ealdorman had posted his troops…" (S1)(R1)(R3). According to C13 Icelandic writings (quoting from two earlier accounts), a great battle was held at "Ringmara heath".
Also note a field called "Slaughterings" (partly Fakenham, partly Honington)(S1).
Possible connection (as burial place) with Black Hill and Troston Mount, Troston.
Alternative sitings are Ipswich (S2) and Norfolk (see discussion in S1 & S3).Also see notes in (S3).
