Full Description
On Basil Brown's 6" OS map of the area are a series of notes: "Report of 2 ancient urns 1945 believed Roman (not investigated) BB". "Said to have been found under a large tree at Coney Weston, ref. a resident, believed Roman. Further particulars are being asked for BB 1/10/ 50".
"Finds stated by workmen to have happened during tree planting on this meadow BB 10/ 11/52".
In his volume notes he states 13th January 1953 - "took photographs of a site on a field near house (Barningham Park) where trees had been planted. Human bones were reported during tree planting."
A note on an index card states: "Finds, apparently Roman, found during tree planting on a meadow in Barningham Park, probably associated with find of RB coin near the house" (S1).
