Full Description
Basil Brown gives description and sketches of two wells in the village: "Ancient wells (flint lined) at Stanton near roads. Possibly Roman. 1. Duke Street - well, cemented and lined with flints. 2. Found beneath a floor of shed near Main Road, foundry and lane to Duke Street - well, flint lined with hard white cement and then bricks or tiles (Roman type) to 40 feet. Found some years ago by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s).
