Full Description
Basil Brown states: "Visited Stanton Chare, site of Roman villa, saw (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) and saw hole in wall of building at farm from which a carved stone was taken to Moyses Hall Museum some 3 weeks previously. Drawing from stone in Museum." Two sketches follow with notation: "Stone found in wall at Little Chare Farm, Stanton, now at Moyses Hall, Bury St Edmunds. Probably Norman, circa 1150 AD. Corbel, soft white limestone." (S1)
