Full Description

An archaeological evaluation by trial trenching was conducted ahead of the construction of a swimming pool in the grounds of Brockley Place, Bury Road, Brockley, as the proposed site for the swimming pool was located within a recorded medieval moat. Two post-medieval drains and post-medieval and modern finds of pottery, glass and tile were uncovered during the evaluation; however the depth of the deposits encountered in the evaluation trenches suggested that the moat around the adjacent medieval property once continued into the area now designated for development (S1).
