Full Description

A now demolished ROC Cold War underground bunker post. Date opened April 1958, date closed October 1968 (S1).

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site is located (with all the surface features intact) in bushes on the south side of the junction of Potters Lane and Common Road by the sharp bend. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey (1995-2002) the site was found to remain in a poor condition. The site was opened during April 1958 and closed in October 1968. The site was cleared during the Spring/Summer of 2002 by Rickinghall Parish Council on health and safety grounds (S2)
