Full Description

2003: An archaeological watching brief revealed a series of post-medieval brick and mortar walls which formed part of a rectangular building, likely built during the 19th century. There were six brick piers enclosed by the external walls which wer elikely to have served a structural purpose within th ebuilding, perhaps as buttresses or roof supports. Timber stakes were identified in the south-east end, which could represent an early phase in construction. Two fragments of pottery recovered from a deposit later in date, along with evidence from 19th and 20th-century maps, suggests that demolition took place during the 20th century. A fragment of post-medieval tile was also recovered (S1).
