Summary

Type 22 pillbox of standard design, except that there are no embrasures in the entrance wall and no exterior blast wall (and no sign one has been removed). Also there is no interior anti-ricochet wall, but this might have been removed as a brick partition wall (with a wooden door frame) has been built across one side of the interior. The purpose is not known. Entrance faces NE.

Full Description

Some 150m NE of A1101 road, on SE boundary of golf course with industrial area. NE of junction of A1101 and Northgate road, Bury St. Edmunds. Type 22 pillbox of standard design, except that there are no embrasures in the entrance wall and no exterior blast wall (and no sign one has been removed). Also there is no interior anti-ricochet wall, but this might have been removed as a brick partition wall (with a wooden door frame) has been built across one side of the interior. The purpose is not known. Entrance faces NE (S1).
