Full Description
Monitoring of groundworks for an extension to Marshside, Dunwich, was carried out as a condition of the planning consent in order to record any archaeological evidence present. Strip foundations revealed made-up ground throughout, up to a depth of 2.2m in the centre of the extension footprint. No discrete incised features were identified (a possible pit may have been present, but due to collapse this was uncertain) within the exposed trench sections, however artefacts of medieval date were recovered from the upcast spoil (S1).
