Full Description
Groupd of 19th C agricultural buildings which include a timber-framed and weatherboarded barn of 5 bays. The barn is a good example of its age and has 3 symmetrical hipped gables. The barn contained a stable with a hayloft above at one end and a neathouse at the other. A granary and milling floor was added in the late 19th C. Also present is a flint shelter shed, a timber-framed cartlodge with a granary above and a brick field barn (S1).
Ivy Farm, Coddenham. 19th century farmstead farmhouse with converted buildings. Regular courtyard L-shaped plan formed by working agricultural buildings with additional detached elements. The farmhouse is set away from the yard. Partial loss (less than 50%) of the traditional farm buildings and farmhouse. Located within an isolated position (S2-7).
Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
