Full Description
Cropmarks of concentric ring ditches with diameters of around 15m and 25m. Details in (S1). For APs see (S2). Part of scheduled group (STT 005-010) including henge(?)(STT 008).
For field system and trackways see Preh.
Also possibility of large open-ended ring ditch (S2).
1981: Eastern half of E area ploughed: W of footpath heath. W area ploughed. The two scheduled areas are separated by a strip occupied by a house with garden and outbuildings, which may mask further cropmarks (S1)
1985: "C" is possibly quite badly eroded but consists certainly of two concentric ditches, circa 30-35m in diameter - the inner of which has a causeway (S1).
January 1998: Scheduled area revised - details in (S1). NGR altered after (S2).
September 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The concentric ring ditches described above are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S3)-(S12) along with possible banks or possible ‘berm’ features within.
A Bronze Age date has tentatively been suggested for them in the light of their apparent relationship with the barrow cemetery recorded as SHER STT 064.
