Full Description

The site of a Second World War prisoner of war camp at Hardwick Heath, known as Camp 260. This was a work camp for German prisoners, who worked as labourers in the local area. The camp accommodated prisoners in Nissen huts and was in use until at least 1948. After the prisoners had been repatriated the camp was used as emergency housing for local civilians. The camp has since been removed and the only remains of the camp are concrete footings (S1).
