Full Description

2013: Phase 1 Evaluation identified a medieval pit and a number of undated ditches and pits (S2).

2017: Phase 2 evaluation revealed a series of post-medieval and modern features including pits and ditches, mostly of agricultural use. Some pits are likely to have been for sand extraction possibly in the Medieval period. A small assemblage of pottery was recovered from a variety of features, including 1 sherd of Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age. The medieval pottery suggests low levels of medieval rubbish deposition or manuring. Fragments of late 18th-20th century pottery were also found. Two worked flints were also recovered (S1).

Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2013 (S3)
