Full Description

Basil Brown quotes the 1689 Adams Index of Parishes in England and Wales as the source of the information concerning a temple of the Order of Knights Templars in Icklingham. The site is not known but is presumed to have some connection with Temple Bridge, a name still in use at TL 7581 7286 (S1)(S2) (S3).
Redstone states "From the public records of the suppression (of 1312) of the Order, it is seen that beside the House at Dunwich, there were Temples at Togrind near Cavendish [Cavenham?] and at Icklingham". However, he later voices the possibility of Icklingham being the same as the Temple of Gislingham, which it clearly is not, so some doubt must remain about this identification.
Note Med Camp close (IKL 031), just to N of Temple Bridge.

Formerly recorded as IKL MISC
