Full Description
12th to 14th century pit identified during monitoring at 7 Cannon Street. The pit was oval in shape measuring c.1m by 0.6m and measured at 0.6m deep. The pit contained 12th to 14th century and fish bones with some from mammals. This pit may be evidence that the settlement of Bury had spread to this area of the modern town by the Medieval period. The fish bones are unusual and may be evidence of the interaction between the monastery and the secular town (S1).
