Full Description
Three fragments of human bone were recovered from the roadside bank west of St. Olave’s Church. Two of the bones had significant surface weathering and bleaching, indicating they had been exposed for some time. The third, the proximal end of a left femur, was in better condition and may have only partially or recently exposed. The shaft of a left tibia is of a comparable size and may be from the same adult individual.
The unfused proximal end of a right humerus is of different proportions and almost certainly represents another individual, although the age ranges of femoral and humeral head ages do overlap. The femur is from an individual of at least 16, while the humerus is from someone of less than 23 years of age (White and Folkens 2005).
