Monument record ERL 228 - OUTLINE RECORD: Roman Burial and Prehistoric and undated ditches, FOUL DRAINAGE REPLACEMENT

Monitoring was carried out on a pipe trench that passed through areas of known Roman and prehistoric activity and very close to the Saxon cemeteries. This revealed evidence of undated ditches and a later prehistoric ditch, as well as a buried soil layer. A Roman grave containing the skeleton of a mature adult male was also excavated, with nails indicating the presence of a coffin (S1, S2).
