Full Description

2013-2014: Excavation identified a pit containing a large amount of burnt flint and charcoal which was radiocarbon dated established the feature to be of Bronze Age date. The pit may have been water retaining and used to crack heated flints. An adjacent funnel-shaped feature appears to have been associated. Ditches of Iron Age date and a drip gully likely representing a round house also of Iron Age date were present. There was a single pit of Saxon date. A field system and two alignments of post holes were dated to the medieval period and a later field system was dated as post medieval. (S1)
