Full Description

Monitoring of Pipeline where it turned towards the rive a 0.5 m thick layer of peat was noted under 0.25 metres of topsoil and 0.40m of alluvium. The peat was partially desiccated. Two flint flakes of probable prehistoric date were recovered from the upcast peat, then discarded on side. This complex of deposits could indicate some past variations in the drainage pattern running along the valley bottom (S1).
