Full Description
Milestone obelisk situated on the B1070 at the junction with Church Street. The inscription points to ‘XX to Bury, 64 Miles to London’ on one side and ‘XIIII Miles to Colchester, X to Ipswich’ on the reverse. The obelisk was repaired by the local rector in 1892 following damage that caused several stones to be missing. The lettering was plugged with lead, with only the B from Bury surviving (S1).
