Full Description
2013: An archaeological community event excavating 29 test pits by local residents and other volunteers. The event was organised by the Hoxne Heritage Group, as part of their HLF funded project 'The Story of Hoxne'. The test pits frequently demonstrated that preserved archaeological layers are present - see HXN 062, 063-072 and DEN 012
Fragments of post-medieval pottery were recovered from Test Pit 8, along with glass, clay tobacco pipe, iron nails and some evidence of slag-type material and clinker (S1).
