Full Description
2013: An archaeological community event excavating 29 test pits by local residents and other volunteers. The event was organised by the Hoxne Heritage Group, as part of their HLF funded project 'The Story of Hoxne'. The test pits frequently demonstrated that preserved archaeological layers are present - see HXN 062, 063-072 and DEN 012
Eight sherds of medieval pottery were recovered from Test Pit 12, one sherd dates to 11th-12th century but the remainder date to 12th-14th century. Two sherds of 15th-16th century pottery were also seen along with sherds of later post-medieval pottery. Other artefacts include a piece of strucl flint flake and fragments of slag (S1).
