2013: An archaeological community event excavating 29 test pits by local residents and other volunteers. The event was organised by the Hoxne Heritage Group, as part of their HLF funded project 'The Story of Hoxne'. The test pits frequently demonstrated that preserved archaeological layers are present - see HXN 062, 063-072 and DEN 012.

Six fragments of 12th-14th century were recovered from Test Pit 17, along with fragments of 15th-17th pottery, small quantifies of clay pipe and animal bone (S1).
