Full Description

Oulton Broad South Swing-bridge. The bridge was built by great Eastern Railway in 1907 as a replacement for a single track bridge that is visible on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map (S1). The design of the swing span is identical to the 1905 Trowse Bridge at Norwich. The substructure has brick piers on timber piles with a pivot pier of 27ft 6in. diameter. In addition to the swing span there are two side spans of 45ft and one of 30ft (S2). The bridge is still in use as part of the East Suffolk railway line (See SUF 067).
