Full Description
Saxham and Risby Station opened in 1854 following the extension of the Ipswich-Cambridge line from Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds to serve agriculture in mid Suffolk. It closed to passengers in 1967 and had closed to freight trains a couple of years earlier. The south platform and waiting room were removed in 1970 and the north platform and main station building were left derelict until their demolition in the late 1980s. A small part of the north platform is still extant.
