Monument record WNN 025 - Site of uncertain archaeological date and significance, possibly Second World War related

Please read our .

Summary

The parchmarks of two circular features of uncertain date and significance are visible on aerial photographs within the area of the Second World War airfield (RLM 047). Given the location it seems most likely that these relate to former Second World War structures and/or activity contemporary with the base. Indistinct marks at the location in 1945 could also suggest this, however the possibility remains that they relate to pre twentieth century archaeology and may represent levelled mounds or parching over sub-surface features.
