Full Description
October 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
A probable World War Two searchlight battery was visible as earthworks and remnants of structures on aerial photographs (S1)-(S6) on Hollesley Heath to the south of a gun battery (SHER HLY 142). It is possible that the site was used largely for training, since it is within the Woodbridge Training area (SHER SUT 250). A pillbox has been recorded within the area of features (SHER HLY 099). A Linear bank and curvilinear ditches were thought to represent the boundary of the site.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 28th October 2015.
