Monument record SUT 229 - Undated linear and curvilinear cropmarks and earthworks of ditches and banks, possible field system and warren banks

Undated linear and curvilinear cropmarks and earthworks of ditches and banks are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S6) on land to the west of Woodbridge airfield, within an area of World War Two anti-glider ditches (SHER SUT 105). These former earthworks and cropmarks may represent a possible former field system and warren banks for rabbit management, but it is also possible that they represent features from the early part of the Second World War. The possible sub-circular feature centred on TM 3184 4849 was considered more likely to be a warren boundary bank than a ring ditch of any sort.
It is therefore possible that they relate to post medieval or earlier tracks or boundaries, but they may also relate to World War Two activity. The features were mapped from an imperfectly rectified image, and their location must also be viewed with some caution.
