Full Description

A well was uncovered beneath the wall line in the yard area. It was open beneath a brick capping, which was removed. It has been excavated into solid chalk with a 'beehive' chamber close to the water table. Presumably the convenience of access from both inside the outside the building outweighed the potential problems of having a well beneath a wall line. (s1)
