Full Description
March 2015 Geophysical survey: Several liner anomalies identified the majority of which are indicative of remnant field boundaries. One area of magnetic disturbance was identified likely related to buildings visible on first edition Ordinance Survey Map 1882. Some thermoremnant responses may be evidence possibly related to former backyard industrial activity were found (S1).
Four evaluation trenches were excavated. Cut features included two large, deep ditches, one of which appeared to be re-cut sometime from the late medieval period, as well as two modern rubbish pits. Other features recorded include a pit or hollow filled with Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age material and three ditches, two of which could be related to boundaries shown on historic maps. Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2015 (S2).
