Full Description

1995: Scatter includes a Roman as or dupondius of 1st to 2nd century date, Saxon penny, a post Medieval spur rowel and two flint objects found during metal detecting.

The Saxon Penny is of Edward the Elder (AD 899-924), north type 649. Obverse “+EADVVEARD REX” with a central small cross. Reverse “VVIL/LVFM” with three crosses in centre. Monyer: Willuf (possible variant of Willaf) (S1).

In 2019, the finds report could not be located. A previous version of this record descibed the lithic implement as Mesolithic, (S2).
