Full Description

Headplate from a cruciform brooch. The top knob is cast in line with the eehadplate and us nearly round in section but with a flattened reverse. The headplate has 3 panels, none of which have any surviving grooving or stamped ornament. Both side knobs are missing and the rbeak at the top of the bow is old. Early Anglo Saxon, late 5th or 5th century AD (S1).
