Full Description
March 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Site of cropmarks visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) of uncertain archaeological significance and unknown date, but comprising a possible oval mound, a ring ditch, a substantial flanking ditch to the south and possible pits. They could represent the site of a Neolithic or Bronze Age oval or round barrow, with associated features. Certainly their position close to a tributary would fit this interpretation, and prehistoric finds have been recorded at locations to the south (LCS 004 and LCS 005). However, the mound could instead be a natural knoll, and the other features also of geological or agricultural origin. A possible ring ditch (LCS 199), also of uncertain archaeological significance, is visible 50m to their southeast.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 26th March 2015.
