Full Description
March 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme
Possible World War Two activity in the form of a probable sports ground and possible underground air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs (S1) on Thorpness recreation ground, Aldringham cum Thorpe. It appears more likely to be a recreational site than a military installation, and is only visible on one set of photographs, from 1942 (S1), but is no longer visible by the following year (S2).
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 6th March 2015.
