Full Description

Bronze cruiform brooch, semi-circular in section and domed in outline with a double scrolled extention and moulded collar. The side knobs are missing. The plate is square headed expanded wings. Animal head terminal with prominent eyes, single hinge repaired in antiquity. From West Stow heath, Suffolk as part of Joseph Warren's collection. Acquired by Sir John Evans and presented to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford by Sir Arthur Evans in 1909. (S1) Accession number: OXFAS 1909.421.
