Full Description

The buildings, i.e. The Long Barn, and the Stables were built sometime after 1805 and before 1838. Additional timber parts have been added to the stables over the years, reflecting the need for more working horses. The brick part of the stables also has a hayloft which was originally accessed by a staircase and there is a loading door in the upper storey which was probably used for loading hay for the horses from a cart brought alongside the wall. The long barn has an open side and would probably have been used for storing horse-drawn farm implements, such as ploughs, harrows and seed drills. It continued being used for storage of redundant farm implements and tractors until 2014. The long barn also has a stall at the end in a brick partitioned part with a two piece stable door. The buildings appear to have been associated with the next door Anchor House which was previously an inn.
