Monument record HLY 151 - Site of possible ring ditch of unknown, possibly prehistoric date

A possible ring ditch of unknown date is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1). It is surrounded by the cropmarks of undated, multi-period field systems, parts of which may be prehistoric in origin (HLY 165). Like the ring ditches visible 280m to the west, lying within a triple-ditched enclosure (HLY 164), the example recorded here could represent the remains of a Bronze Age or Iron Age round house. Alternatively, it could relate to an isolated Bronze Age barrow, or a later site, such as a medieval or post medieval mill mound. However, it should be noted that the ring ditch is visible on only one set of photographs, and it could instead relate to recent agricultural activity.
