Full Description
2016: An archaeological evaluation revealed a scorched surface and stone pad that had clearly been associated with in-situ heating. It is like that this feature was the remains of a domestic oven or hearth. It is possible that the feature was situated in a structure for which there was no evidence remaining. Fragments of stone, including a window mullion, were recovered from the site. It is likely that the stone is from ruined medieval structures in the town (S1).
Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2016 (S2).
