Full Description
December 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks of multiphase ditches and former field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Staverton Park (S1-S6). Some elements of the boundaries are depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map (S7), suggesting that at least some of the ditches are medieval to post medieval in date. Although some elements would appear to be earlier. Note Iron Age (BUT 008, BUT 014, BUT 011) and Roman (BUT 003) finds and excavated ditches in close proximity.
