Full Description
November 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The possible earthworks of wood banks and boundaries, potentially of medieval to post medieval date, may be visible on LIDAR imagery (S1) within Tunstall Forest and on the edge of Tunstall Common. Also visible on the LIDAR within the northeastern part of the site are two circular mounds, one of which appears to be surrounded by a bank. However nothing correlating to these features is visible on the historic aerial photographs – when the area is clear of tree cover – suggesting that these mounds relate to recent clearance works.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 25th November 2015.
