Monument record ADT 089 - Probable medieval to post medieval land allotment boundaries

Please read our .

Summary

The soilmarks and slight earthworks of probable medieval to post medieval land allotment boundaries are visible on aerial photographs and lidar imagery. The land allotments/boundaries are visible as soilmarks suggesting former banks and the layout is reminiscent of those boundaries surviving to the south. The lidar indicates that slight ditches associated with these banks still survive. These boundaries are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, but have been omitted from the mapping, in part due to a likelihood that their presence is recorded on other historic maps, but also due to the fact that the inclusion of the features might obscure the layout of multi-phase cropmarks recorded underneath (ADT 035, ADT 090). However it must be noted that Anglo-Saxon finds have been recovered from this area (ADT 041).
