Monument record ADT 104 - Cropmarks of one or more ring ditches, probable Bronze Age round barrows

The cropmarks of two ring ditches, possibly the remains of Bronze Age round barrows, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The ring ditches are located to the north of a barrow cemetery (ADT 105) and potentially represents further barrows within this group. However they are also located within an area of enclosures, fields and trackways (ADT 099), which may be late prehistoric to Roman in date and it is possible that these ring ditches may relate to structures contemporary with part of that site. Although the positioning of the ring ditches on the edge or corner of an enclosure could suggest they are not contemporary – with that phase at least.
The site consists of one ring ditch and a possibly conjoined/abutting ring ditch and/or circular enclosure. Alternatively this incomplete ditch could represent an earlier monument that has been truncated.
