1976: Excavation by Mr Campbell, only Victorian Levels (S1,S2).

Excavation at the rear of The Woolpack Inn, Tuddenham Road, Ipswich, at junction of Bolton Lane and Westerfield Road: Purpose - A small exploratory excavation to confirm reports of flint walls or foundations observed when the new boundary fence was erected. On 9th June 1976 an area approx. 6ft x 3ft was excavated in the N.W. corner of the Woolpack grounds. At a depth of 31" in rubble an 1858 farthing was found. At 50" a solid brick floor has been located. Information from Colin Campbell (S3).
