Branch line between Aldeburgh and Saxmundham. The line was originally built as far as Leiston in 1850 with a station at Leiston, and was extended by four miles to Aldeburgh in 1860. A siding was opened in Leiston in 1912 to serve the nearby gasworks. A station was opened at Thorpeness in 1912. The line served passenger trains until 1966. Freight trains continued to run on the line and today part of the line remains in use for nuclear flask trains servicing Sizewell nuclear power station.
