Monument record ELV 109 - Probable medieval to post medieval banks and routeways

Please read our .

Summary

The soilmarks of former boundary banks and/or routeways of probable post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs. Twentieth century Ordnance Survey mapping and aerial photographs indicate that at least one of these soilmarks relates to the line of a former pathway, however given the relationship with other features it could be suggested that the route/boundary may represent an older feature. The site has been extended to the east to include the area of Sketchfar Wood, which may contain some earthwork ditches potentially visible on aerial photographs in 1965. Although these may all relate to recent forestry activity and have not been mapped.
