Monument record ELV 132 - Undated banks between Elveden and Downham High warrens

Please read our .

Summary

Undated banks are visible as earthworks on imagery from a lidar survey, in the area of land between Elveden (SHER ELV 039), Downham High (SHER STN 035) and Thetford (NHER 54069) warrens. They appear to continue both to the northeast, in Downham High Warren, and to the southwest, in Elveden Warren. Their purpose, date and relationship with the warrens and their boundaries is unclear. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthworks still survive. They appear, however, to be very low and insubstantial, and may be difficult to identify on the ground.
