"William Prior of St. Peter's Street, failed during the year to scour the ditch alongside Bessels, where the carcase of a dead horse lay undisturbed, so that the flow of water running from the fishmarket which should have an in and out flow through his wall and thro' the priory grounds into the salt water, could make no exit therefore in the wineter, the whole way was overflowed by heavy rains.1413-1422
